The State House of Assembly had confirmed the commissioner nominees which were screened following a letter transmitted to the House by the Executive Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf seeking the House approval to screen and confirm the Nominees for appointment as Cabinet members.
The House in Thursday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ismail Jibrin Falgore confirmed the nominees for the said appointment in a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Husaini Dala which was deliberated in the committee of the whole were the House deliberated and agreed with the confirmation.
The House confirmed seventeen nominees whereas the remaining two would be confirmed when they come back from Hajj.
The confirmed Commissioner nominees are Comr. Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, Hon. Haruna Umar Doguwa, Hon. Ali bukar Makoda, Dr. Abubakar Labaran yusuf, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, Barr. Haruna Dederi, Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata, Hon. Nasiru sule Garo, Engr. Muhammad Diggol, Hon. Abbas Sani Abbas.
Others are Hon. Hamza Safiyanu, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud, Hon. Musa sulaiman shanono, Haj. Aisha Lawan, Haj. Ladidi Garko, Hon. Adamu Ali kibiya, Hon. Tajuddeen ussman ungoggo, Sheik. Tijjani Auwal, and Hon. Baba Halilu dantiye MNI
Similarly, the House has constituted a selection committee that would be responsible for sub committees’ formation.
The selection committee is headed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ismail Jibrin Falgore while Clerk of the House, Alhaji Ali Maje is to serve as the secretary of the committee.
One of the primary functions of legislature is oversight functions which is usually being done under the subcommittees that are assigned responsibilities of monitoring the activities of MDAs and to report back to House for further Legislative actions.
