Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has revealed plans to collaborate with military and para-military institutions to nurture top-tier athletes capable of achieving international recognition for Nigeria.

Senator Enoh made this declaration during his address at the inaugural Judo Para-Military Judo Championship held in Abuja on February 14th.

Expressing concern over the decline of sports talent development within military and para-military establishments, the minister emphasized the need to revive this tradition.

He commended the Nigeria Judo Federation for spearheading the Military and Para-Military Judo Championship and urged other sports federations to follow suit by forging partnerships with military and para-military organizations to enhance Nigeria's prospects on the global sports stage.

Senator Enoh assured continued support for the advancement of various sports in the nation, citing the potential reinstatement of Judo as a Category A sport as a benchmark for his tenure's success.

Dr. Musa Oshodi, President of the Nigerian Judo Federation, expressed gratitude to the minister for endorsing their event, underscoring his dedication to sports development.

He underscored that the collaboration between the federation and the military aims to restore Judo to its rightful prominence in Nigeria.
