In a recent development on March 13th, 2024, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter, has declared an indefinite suspension of all interactions with the Technical Crew of Kano Pillars FC.

According to a statement by the Secretary, of SWAN Kano State Chapter, Muhammad Nur Tijjani said "This decision came after an unfortunate event at the Sani Abacha Stadium during the post-match press conference for match day 25, featuring Kano Pillars and Rangers International."

"The incident involved the Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars FC, who reportedly directed a barrage of insults at members of SWAN, including the National Ex-Officio responsible for the Northwest region and three other executive members."

The confrontation was sparked by a question regarding a change in the team lineup from the previous match against Rivers United.

SWAN has condemned the Technical Adviser's conduct as disrespectful and unacceptable, prompting the association to cease all dealings with the club's Technical Crew until a satisfactory resolution is reached.

The association stresses the significance of maintaining respectful and professional relationships between sports clubs and the media, which are vital for the advancement of sports journalism and the growth of the industry.

The Kano State Chapter of SWAN remains dedicated to the principles of integrity, professionalism, and respect. They express their hope for a prompt and amicable settlement of the dispute that will enhance the collaborative spirit between the media and sports organizations.
