NRC Addresses Medical Staff Concerns Amid Train Emergency

Zakari Haruna - Kaduna

In a recent press release, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has addressed the public's concerns following media scrutiny over the availability of medical personnel during an emergency situation aboard the Abuja-Kaduna passenger train.

The NRC has confirmed the presence of Mariam Abdulai, a qualified medical professional, who was on board during the incident. Abdulai, alongside a well-equipped medical cubicle, provided immediate assistance during the emergency. Despite their prompt response, they were unable to save Police Inspector Nambut Selbol, who tragically lost his life while on escort duty.

The corporation has reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring passenger safety and the availability of emergency medical services on its trains. The NRC has also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to Inspector Selbol's family, recognizing the profound impact of their loss.

With this announcement, the NRC seeks to alleviate public apprehension and reinforce confidence in the railway's safety protocols, despite the regrettable events of the recent emergency.
