KADUNA — Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has announced the nomination of Jerry Adams as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, describing the decision as a reaffirmation of his administration's commitment to inclusion, justice, fairness and equitable governance.
In a statement announcing the nomination, Governor Sani said the choice of Adams followed extensive consultations, deep reflection and prayers, stressing that the decision goes beyond selecting a deputy governorship candidate.
According to the governor, the nomination reflects the core values that have guided his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023, emphasizing that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging regardless of religion, ethnicity or geographical location.
Governor Sani noted that Kaduna's rich diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, adding that the state has learned valuable lessons from past divisions and continues to pursue dialogue, inclusion and justice as the foundation for sustainable peace and development.
He said over the past three years, his administration has worked to rebuild trust in government by ensuring that development projects and democratic dividends reach all 23 local government areas of the state.
The governor listed investments in roads, education, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection as evidence of his administration's determination to ensure that no community is left behind.
He further explained that collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organizations, women and youth groups has strengthened peace-building efforts, leading to improved security, increased farming activities, business expansion and renewed investor confidence across many parts of the state.
Speaking on the choice of his running mate, Governor Sani described Jerry Adams as an accomplished public servant, respected tax administrator and institution builder whose leadership at the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service has transformed the agency into one of Nigeria's leading revenue institutions.
He credited Adams with promoting innovation, transparency and professionalism, saying his contributions have strengthened the state's revenue generation and enhanced government's capacity to invest in critical sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture.
The governor also praised Adams' integrity, humility and commitment to peace and reconciliation, saying his nomination demonstrates the administration's resolve to prioritize merit, competence and character in leadership.
Governor Sani called on the people of Kaduna State to embrace the nomination as a symbol of unity rather than viewing it through religious, ethnic or regional considerations.
He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Kaduna State, expressing confidence that the foundation already laid would enable future generations to inherit a more united, secure and prosperous state.
