Humanitarian NGO Flags up Sport 4 Peaceful Elections Amongst Youths In Nigeria

With few weeks before the 2023 General Elections, the National President, of the Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria, Pastor Yohanna Buru Flagged up a peace campaign among Nigerian youths at various sports fields and football Viewing centers to use sports to promote peace and unity.

He stressed that Sport can be a powerful tool for building peace and inter-religious tolerance to strengthening Christian and Muslim relationships in the country.

According to him, it became imperative to visit sportive venues and football Viewing centers to meet and interact with various stakeholders on the need to strengthen peace and unity through sports.

“This year’s 2023 general elections come amidst insecurity, high cost of living, scarcity of naira notes, fuel scarcity, and climate change”.

“Sport as a universal language is a powerful tool to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding by bringing people together across boundaries, cultures, and religions”.

Adding sports-based public awareness campaigns can promote awareness towards climate protection and stimulate enhanced community response for local environment preservation.

At one of the Sports venues, Kabiru Abdulrahman, Skating Coach in Kaduna State Nigeria expressed satisfaction over the visit by the Team while emphasizing the need for youth to embrace peace and unity in the country.

He appealed to the government and stakeholders with wealthy individuals to always encourage youths in sports and peacebuilding and conflict prevention

While calling on the Youths to shun political thuggery, crisis, and other violence related to ethnicity.
