Nigeria's Top Sports Writers Converge On Kano Tomorrow For SWAN Full Council Meeting

Kano Gov, Sports Minister, NASS Sports Committee Chairmen, and others for awards

The highly anticipated SWAN Full Council Meeting is set to take place in ancient  Kano City, Kano State. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chairman, Alh. Lurwanu Idriss Malikawa Garu, the Village Head of Garu of Bichi Emirate Council, has confirmed that all arrangements have been finalized to host national SWAN delegates at this prestigious event.

My the leadership of Comrade Zahradeen Saleh, the Kano SWAN chapter has established a dedicated Local Organizingq as Committee (LOC) chaired by Lurwanu Idris Malikawa, with Abdulgafar Oladimeji serving as the secretary. 

The LOC's primary responsibility is to mobilize resources and develop strategies to ensure the seamless execution of this historic gathering, overseen by National President Isaiah Kemje Benjamin.
The national secretariat has officially endorsed the proposed dates and initiated all necessary preparations for the meeting, scheduled to take place from May 1 to 3, 2024.

 SWAN members are expected to arrive in Kano on May 1, with the main meeting slated for May 2. The departure of all attendees is scheduled for May 3.

This gathering promises to be a momentous occasion, with the presence of current national SWAN leadership, headed by Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, former national president, as well as serving state chairmen and secretaries.

It will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of professional bonds within the sports journalism community.

Meanwhile, as part of activities for the glamorous event, Nigerians that have contributed to sports development in the country would be honoured at the  SWAN Full Council in various categories of awards.

The outline of events reveals that the national event will commence from the 1st to the 6th of May 2024 in the ancient city of Kano.

The chairman of, the SWAN National Mobilization Committee, Abdulgafar Oladimeji disclosed that arrangements have reached zenith stages, adding that,  it can be confirmed that all planned activities will kick off from May 1.

According to him, prominent Nigerians have been dominated for the conferment of various categories of awards.
He further disclosed that those to be conferred with the awards include, Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) legend and Kano Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali.
Others are former president of the now defunct, Nigeria Football Association (NFA), (Dr) Ibrahim Galadima, Kano State Commissioner of Information, Halilu Baba Dantiye.

" Prominent Nigerians which include, Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Barau Jubril, Chairman Senate Committee on Sports, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, and UK-based businessman and sports consultant, Moses Andishu."

Others are, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, 
Senator John Owan Enoh, Hon. Abubakar Ekene Adams, Alhaji Dr. ISiyaku Umar Tofa, Alhaji Halilu Dantiyye, Rabiu Ali, the Chairman, Nigeria Nationwide League One, Alhaji Dr. Rabiu Inuwa and the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Kabir Yusuf.

He said the awards ceremony will be held on the sidelines of the SWAN Full Council Meeting in Kano.
