A total of 16 teams are set to battle for glory at the 3rd edition of the Dr. Ibrahim Galadima Cup, scheduled to kick off on January 4th, 2025, at 4 PM at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
The tournament, held annually to honor the former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Dr. Ibrahim Galadima, celebrates his immense contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria.
According to Ado Salisu, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, the 16 participating teams are divided into four groups (A, B, C, and D). Among the notable teams are Proline FC, Clever Warriors, Azhuba FC, Kano Pillars FC (Junior), Super Stars Sheka, Kwankwasiyya FC, Dabo Babes FC, and Tiger FC from Funtua, Katsina State.
Ado highlighted that this year’s tournament will retain its festive atmosphere, with teams from outside Kano adding more competition. He also announced the introduction of VAR technology to ensure fair officiating.
“All the elements that made the previous editions memorable will remain intact. This year, we aim to elevate the competition by including clubs from other states, like Tiger FC from Katsina,” he said.
The opening match will feature Super Stars Sheka clashing with Clever Warriors, setting the stage for an exciting tournament.

- Alhaji Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC)
- Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)
- Makaman Bichi
- Isiyaku Umar Tofa
- Halilu Baba Dantiye, Former Commissioner of Information, Kano State
- Sherif Rabiu Inuwa, Chairman of the Kano State Football Association (KSFA)
