Tijjani Iliyasu News Kaduna Sector Commander |
Kaduna State has a new helmsman at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) as Corps Commander Tijjani Iliyasu assumed the role of the 24th Sector Commander on Wednesday. With his arrival, Iliyasu made a firm commitment to elevate road safety standards across the state.
Taking over the reins from Deputy Corps Commander Idris Lawal, who served as the acting Sector Commander and was in charge of Operations, Iliyasu brings with him experience from his previous posting as the Sector Commander in Zamfara State.
Upon assuming his new responsibilities, Corps Commander Iliyasu reassured the public of the FRSC's unwavering dedication to enhancing road safety within Kaduna.
He emphasized the Corps' commitment to serving the people and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts with the public, transport unions, and fellow security agencies in achieving their shared objectives.
Iliyasu pledged to build upon the existing foundation, stating, "We are going to improve on the performance we met on the ground, and we will carry the people of Kaduna State along in whatever we are doing. The command will explain its actions to the public and ensure that they understand the reasons behind its decisions."
Acknowledging the persistent challenges of overloading and over-speeding, not just in Kaduna but nationwide, Iliyasu assured that the command would proactively address these issues. He outlined a strategy involving "advocacy visits and public enlightenment programmes" aimed at preventing these violations before they occur.
Underscoring the significance of partnerships, Iliyasu affirmed the FRSC's close working relationship with critical stakeholders, particularly transport unions. "We are like twin brothers because they are into the transport business, and we are into the transport regulation business," he remarked.
He emphasized the continuation of this collaboration to achieve common goals.
Looking inward, the new Sector Commander also stressed the importance of personnel welfare as a key driver of effective service delivery. "We will recognise the people that perform exceptionally well, and we will reward them," he stated, highlighting the command's yearly performance evaluation system.
He believes that prioritizing the well-being and recognizing the achievements of FRSC staff will ensure a motivated workforce dedicated to providing excellent service to the public.
