Dr. Ahmad Kana Abubakar, the General Manager of Nasarawa State Water Board, (NSWB) has been honored with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his visionary leadership and outstanding service as a public servant and head of a government agency.
The prestigious award was presented by Authentic News Daily, a prominent online news platform, during a ceremony held at the historic Arewa House in Kaduna on 10th May, 2025.
Recognition of Governor Sule's Reforms in the Water Sector
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Abubakar dedicated the award to Governor Abdullahi Sule's administration, attributing the recognition to the state government's remarkable achievements in water infrastructure development.
"This honor reflects the transformative work being done under Governor Sule's leadership to provide potable water across Nasarawa State," Dr. Abubakar stated while addressing journalists.
N1.2 Billion Garaku Water Project
The Water Board GM revealed that Governor Sule recently approved N1.2 billion for the construction of water booster stations in Garaku town. This critical project is expected to significantly improve the water supply to Keffi and surrounding communities.
Expanding Water Sources
Dr. Abubakar disclosed that the state government is implementing strategic plans to enhance water supply through multiple sources:
- Tapping into the Lower Usman Dam
- Utilizing water resources from River Gurara
- Establishing public-private partnerships to ensure project sustainability
Addressing Karu's Water Challenges
"This administration remains committed to ensuring every resident has access to clean water, regardless of population pressures," Dr. Abubakar emphasized.
The award ceremony was attended by government officials, media executives, and stakeholders in the water sector, who all commended Nasarawa State's progress in water provision under Dr. Abubakar's leadership.
