The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across the country as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, urging Nigerians to imbibe the festival’s core values of faith, obedience, and sacrifice for national progress.
In a statement issued on Thursday by its Acting President, Comrade Audu T. Amba, the NLC acknowledged the economic hardships faced by citizens, particularly the soaring prices of rams and essential food items. Despite these challenges, the labour body expressed hope that the occasion would renew faith, foster love, and bring prosperity and peace to all Nigerians.
“We join our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating this holy festival of sacrifice, praying that Allah accepts their prayers and devotion,” the statement read.
The NLC also called on the government at all levels to take urgent steps to address the rising cost of living and curb the worsening insecurity across the country. According to the Congress, ensuring safety and economic stability would create a more conducive environment for citizens to celebrate freely and live productively.
“As a moment of sober reflection, we urge Nigerians not to lose hope in the face of current challenges but to summon the courage and wisdom needed to overcome them,” the statement added.
The NLC reiterated its commitment to advocating for workers' welfare and national development, even as it wished all Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
