Delegates from 18 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory were forced to relocate to an alternative venue, where they deliberated on pressing issues of governance, transparency, and constitutional order within the forum.
The Staff and delegates were reportedly chased out of the headquarters “on orders from the top,” raising questions about external interference in the forum’s internal affairs.
NEC members however, condemned the disruption but emphasized their determination to uphold the ACF’s constitutional processes.
During the emergency meeting the Ethics and Conduct Committee presented findings of alleged breaches of due process and financial irregularities, prompting NEC to suspend Board of Trustees Chairman Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu.
The NEC ordered a comprehensive audit of the forum’s finances, including its endowment fund, to ensure accountability and recovery of any misapplied funds.
The ACF National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Tukur Mohamed Baba, stressed that the suspension was “preservative, not punitive,” underscoring the forum’s commitment to transparency ahead of its constitutional activities leading into the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, Prof. Nuhu Muhammad Jamu of the Code of Conduct Committee highlighted deeper structural issues, including irregular membership participation and blurred lines of authority between the Board of Trustees, NEC, and the National Working Committee.
