APC Members Rally in Zamfara

GUSAU, Zamfara State — Members of All Progressives Congress (APC) solidarity groups in Zamfara State, numbering in the thousands by organisers’ estimate, staged a rally on Wednesday to celebrate the appointment of former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abdul’azeez Yari Abubakar, as Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council.

The APC supporters converged on the state government house in Gusau to express their appreciation and submitted a letter to Governor Dauda Lawal for onward transmission to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Responding on behalf of the state government, Deputy Governor Mani Mummuni, representing Governor Lawal, said the turnout showed that the APC in Zamfara remained united behind a shared goal. “Today’s event is an indication that APC in Zamfara is one family that shares the same aim: the party’s success,” he said.

Mummuni expressed confidence that the competence, experience and commitment of Yari — popularly referred to by his traditional title, Marafan Sokoto — would help deliver victory for President Tinubu and Governor Lawal in the 2027 general elections. He also pledged that the Lawal administration would support Yari in carrying out his duties as campaign director-general.

The convener of the rally, Alhaji Lawali M. Liman Gabdon Kaura, who chairs the Senator Abubakar Yari Political Organisation, said the gathering was organised to thank President Tinubu for appointing “a son of Zamfara soil” and political mentor to the role. He thanked the youths who turned out despite short notice and assured them that Yari would continue to champion initiatives benefiting young people in the state.

Gabdon Kaura said APC support groups were confident that Yari’s ability to mobilise stakeholders, engage diverse political interests and foster unity would strengthen the party’s campaign ahead of 2027. He called on party supporters to remain calm, united and committed to the party’s success.

Also addressing the crowd, the APC’s Zamfara State Chairman, Honourable Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji, assured residents that Governor Lawal, Minister Bello Matawalle and Senator Yari would work together for the benefit of Zamfara citizens. He urged residents to vote for APC candidates at all levels in the coming elections.
