Wife of the Kaduna State Governor, Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani, has charged newly inaugurated executives of the Tinubu/Uba Sani Progressive Women Initiative Door-to-Door Campaign in Kaduna State to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She urged the women to mobilise support for the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, as well as other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Kaduna State First Lady gave the charge during the inauguration of coordinators for the 23 local government areas of the state, held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall in Kaduna.

Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to serve as good ambassadors of the initiative, remain focused and demonstrate commitment to their responsibilities to ensure effective mobilisation across the state.

She also called on women groups and the general public to promote peaceful coexistence and shun religious and ethnic divisions, stressing the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after the 2027 general elections.

In her remarks, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, said the Uba Sani administration had introduced various programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of women and other vulnerable groups.

She cited government interventions targeting vulnerable women, including those with mental health challenges and their children, as well as pregnant women requiring care and support.

The Commissioner also said measures introduced by the state government to support victims of sexual violence and address gender-based violence had contributed to a reported reduction in rape cases across the state.

Hajiya Rabi further disclosed plans by the state government to introduce an economic empowerment programme targeting at least 100 women from each of the 253 wards in Kaduna State, through a proposed N10 billion grant initiative.

She urged the newly inaugurated campaign officials to strengthen their grassroots engagement and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

In an interview, the Kaduna State APC Women Leader, Hajiya Maryam Suleiman Maigina, said the inauguration was accompanied by the distribution of food items, including 10-kilogram bags of semovita and packs of spaghetti, to selected women groups.

She explained that the inauguration of the new executives was part of efforts to strengthen the party's mobilisation structure and expand its political activities across the state.

Hajiya Maryam added that the organisation would intensify its door-to-door campaign across communities and local government areas to mobilise support for APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
