| Senator Garba Musa Maidoki |
FROM ALIYU IBRAHIM IN KADUNA
The Senator representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, has urged eligible voters to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) wisely by electing credible and competent leaders capable of addressing their concerns and improving their living conditions in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Maidoki made the call during a civic engagement organised for members of the Zuru Emirate community residing in Kaduna State by the Zuru Emirate Development Society.
He described the PVC as an important instrument for democratic participation and political change, urging voters to use it responsibly to elect leaders who would prioritise good governance and the welfare of the people at all levels.
The Senator said the engagement formed part of his ongoing voter sensitisation activities across Kebbi South Senatorial District to prepare constituents for the forthcoming general elections and encourage informed participation in the electoral process.
He also called on the Federal Government to strengthen measures to address security challenges confronting communities in the Zuru Emirate, particularly the activities of bandits, attacks and kidnappings affecting residents of the area.
In his remarks, the National President of the Zuru Emirate Development Society, Air Vice Marshal Salau Salihu Ribah (Rtd.), said the engagement was organised following concerns that people of Zuru extraction living outside their homeland had not been adequately sensitised and mobilised ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He explained that the association planned to extend the civic engagement to other parts of the country with significant populations of Zuru Emirate indigenes.
According to him, the Kaduna meeting followed similar engagements held in Birnin Kebbi and Sokoto as part of efforts to strengthen political awareness and encourage greater participation among members of the community.
In his remarks, the Kaduna State Chairman of the association, Mr Dennis Aiki, commended Senator Maidoki for honouring the invitation despite his demanding legislative responsibilities, describing his presence as an indication of his commitment to engaging with his constituents.
Aiki, however, appealed to the Senator to extend his social intervention programmes to people of Zuru Emirate extraction residing in Kaduna State.
He specifically requested their inclusion in educational support initiatives, small-business grants and skills acquisition programmes to strengthen their economic activities and improve their socio-economic wellbeing.
