PLATEAU DEPUTY GOVERNOR, MRS JOSEPHINE PIYO RECEIVES HUNTERS ASSOCIATION...PLEDGES GOVERNMENT'S COMMITMENT TOWARD TACKLING INSECURITY IN THE STATE




Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, has said that the Mutfwang-led administration is committed to upholding its constitutional role of safeguarding lives and property of citizens of the state.

According to a statement issued February 23, 2024 by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Martha Nyam revealed that Piyo stated this while receiving the State Commandant of the Hunters Association and Forest Security Service in Jos on Friday. 

She commended the Hunters Association for collaborating with the government and relevant security agencies toward the safety of the state. 

“I want to state that the Mutfwang-led administration is committed to upholding its constitutional principles of safeguarding lives and property and is resolute in the pursuit of peace and unity in the state. 

“The governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang is not relenting on the issues of peace and security in the state; without peace and security, there will be no meaningful development in the state. 

“It is on this note that I want to appreciate the Hunters Association for their service to humanity. You are sacrificing your comfort and lives for the people of Plateau state. 

“This administration is interested in the welfare of workers and everyone in the state and i assure you that the state government would collaborate with you and lend a voice to the presidency for your bill to be assented''

The deputy governor encouraged residents of communities to be vigilant and protect their villages from invaders. 

Earlier, the State Commandant of the Hunters Association and Forest Security Service, Mr Dabat Nienmuop, thanked the current administration for its effort and support to the association, and described it as unprecedented. 

Nienmuop stated that the association has over 17,000 members spread across strategic locations in the state and collaborating with security agencies to combat crime in the bushes and local communities. 

He said the association is also tasked with other volunteering duties within the city to combat petty crimes and offer community social services like the fumigation of abattoirs in the state to mitigate the spread of diseases. 

The commandant called on the state government to add its voice to hasten the signing of the Hunters Association Bill to law and hoped that members of the Hunters Association are in all LGAs to assist security forces combat violent attacks on local communities.
