The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has reaffirmed its trust in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), praising its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections. This endorsement comes after presidential candidate Peter Obi’s recent comments acknowledging INEC’s integrity.

In a statement, AYCF President General Yerima Shettima emphasized the forum’s long-standing belief in INEC’s credibility, impartiality, and transparency. Shettima commended INEC for upholding the will of the people and safeguarding democratic rights, stressing the importance of strong institutions like INEC in ensuring electoral integrity.

The AYCF also warned against judicial overreach in electoral matters, urging the judiciary to limit its role to adjudicating legal disputes and upholding the rule of law. The forum condemned any attempts to undermine INEC’s credibility, emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and good governance in Nigeria’s electoral system.

The AYCF called on stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and the media, to support INEC’s independence and promote free, fair, and credible elections. The forum urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively participate in the electoral process to safeguard democratic principles.

This endorsement comes as a boost to INEC’s credibility, reinforcing the commission’s commitment to conducting credible elections in Nigeria.
