The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, is in mourning after two of its members lost loved ones within a span of 24 hours. The association expressed its condolences in a statement signed by its Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi, and Secretary, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
The statement expressed grieved over the sudden death of the husband of member Amina Anebi on Tuesday evening, followed by the demise of the father of a member, Tega Nwaiwu on Wednesday morning. This double tragedy comes on the heels of recent losses within the association, where members Grace John and Vincent Akinbami lost their father and sister, respectively.
Kaduna SWAN described the deaths as "devastating" and offered its condolences to the affected members. The association prayed for the deceased to rest in peace and for the loved ones to find the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
It also prayed for God's protection over all its members and their loved ones.
This double tragedy has left the association in a state of mourning, and it is rallying around its affected members during this difficult time.
