Mallam Idris explained that since the time their parents occupied the lands up to this time they have been promptly paying taxes to government as and when due

The leader of the Gubuchi Farmers noted that if Confiscated from the farmers the land owners would be exposed to untold hardship, hence the need for governor Mallam Uba Sani to intervene on the matter, to forestall peace in the area.

On wether there was written document by the government instructing the farmers to quit the farm lands, Mallam Idris Gubuchi said there was nothing like that.

Mallam Idris Abdullahi Gubuchi who is also the Secretary Farmers Association Gubuchi and Makarfi, pointed out that they have filed a case in court, and the court had issued order, directing the Company in question to stop any attempt or action aimed at confiscating the Gubuchi farm lands.

Also speaking on the issue a spokesman of a human rights group ” Freedom for Humanity,” Isma’il Ibrahim described the planned confiscation of the land by the Company as unfortunate and targeted at causing grievous injuries to the farm lands.

He said the NGO decided to wade into the matter inview of the need to protect the rights of the Gubuchi Farmers.

Isma’il Ibrahim therefore threatened that if the company in question went ahead and confiscate the farm lands from the farmers, they would stand by them and file a case in court to seek for redress to ensure that their rights have not been trampled upon.

The spokesman of the Freedom for Humanity urged the farmers to remain peaceful and avoid any act that could disrupt public peace as a result of the problem, and await Kaduna State government’s response on the issue.
