Azare, Bauchi State – A wave of destruction swept through Azare, the second-largest town in Bauchi State, as hoodlums vandalized government properties, including the local government secretariat, the government lodge, and the country home of former Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela.
The mayhem, which occurred during the ongoing nationwide protests against “bad governance,” left a trail of destruction and tension in the area.
Residents reported that the thugs torched the secretariat on Monday, carting away valuables and destroying property.
In response to the deteriorating security situation, the Bauchi State government has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Katagum Local Government Area, effective immediately.
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed directed security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The curfew aims to contain the situation and maintain law and order. Law-abiding citizens have been urged to cooperate with security agencies during this trying period
