NSC, Nigeria Police Force Partner to Boost Security, Uncover Sporting Talents

The National Sports Commission (NSC) is collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to enhance security and unearth sporting talents in the country. This partnership aims to improve Nigeria's performance at international sporting events like the Olympics, while also addressing the issue of insecurity.

The NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, acknowledged the NPF's significant contributions to Nigerian sports, particularly highlighting the achievements of Chioma Ajunwa and Sunday Bada, both police officers who won Olympic gold medals.

Dikko emphasized the alignment between the NPF's sporting policies and the NSC's "Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigerian Sports Economy" (RHINSE). He proposed a joint effort to establish centers of excellence, where talents discovered within the police force and across the nation can be nurtured.

The NSC Chairman also stressed the crucial role of sports in combating insecurity, emphasizing that engaging youth in sporting activities provides a positive outlet and reduces the likelihood of involvement in criminal activities.

AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baku, Chairperson of the Force Sports Planning Committee, outlined the NPF's commitment to sports development and expressed the belief that this collaboration will yield significant results.

The NSC and NPF will establish a joint committee to synergize their efforts and implement programs that advance sports development in line with their shared visions.

This partnership between the NSC and the NPF signifies a proactive approach to addressing both sporting and security challenges in Nigeria.
