The Bauchi People's Advocate for Good Governance has come to the defense of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ahmed Abdulrahman, dismissing recent allegations by Abdullahi Ishaq Jibrin, a former staff member of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as false and malicious.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Aliyu Musa, the group described Jibrin’s claims as baseless fabrications aimed at discrediting AIG Abdulrahman, whom they hailed as a respected Islamic scholar, retired law enforcement officer, and philanthropist.
The group accused Jibrin of attempting to divert attention from his own alleged history of corruption, fraud, and betrayal, calling his accusations “desperate lies that will not hold.”
They also denied Jibrin’s claim that AIG Abdulrahman investigated the Governor of Bauchi State, describing it as a fabricated story intended to stir controversy. “The people of Bauchi are not fooled by these cooked-up narratives,” the statement added.
Reacting to Jibrin’s claim of having worked with AIG Abdulrahman for 17 to 20 years, the group clarified that official records show he only worked for two years. They further claimed that within that time, Jibrin benefited from the AIG’s generosity and mentorship.
The group went on to allege that Jibrin was dismissed from the EFCC for extorting money and a vehicle from victims of financial crimes, based on an internal investigation reportedly initiated by AIG Abdulrahman himself.
They described Jibrin’s boasts of elite international training, including FBI courses, as fraudulent, saying such fabrications reflect a consistent pattern of dishonesty. “Someone who lies about his credentials cannot be trusted by the public,” the statement said.
The group also highlighted AIG Abdulrahman's acts of personal generosity, stating that he gave Jibrin ₦200,000 on two occasions to support his relocation to Bauchi and invested in a pharmacy venture on his behalf, which was later mismanaged.
“Instead of gratitude, Jibrin has chosen the path of betrayal and blackmail,” the group stated, accusing him of weaponizing their past association for selfish ends.
The Bauchi People’s Advocate challenged Jibrin to produce credible evidence supporting his claims, including appointment letters, certificates from FBI training, and verifiable witnesses. “Until he provides such proof, his stories remain reckless fiction,” they said.
The group further revealed that legal action has been initiated against Jibrin for alleged criminal defamation, fraudulent misrepresentation, and attempted extortion, pledging to pursue justice until the matter is resolved.
They urged the media and the general public to ignore Jibrin’s allegations, which they described as “driven by envy, greed, and a hunger for attention.”
Reaffirming their support for AIG Abdulrahman, the group praised his legacy of service, integrity, and religious scholarship, assuring that his reputation remains intact.
The Bauchi People’s Advocate for Good Governance concluded by reiterating its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and good leadership in Bauchi State.
