Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has expressed his commitment to providing all necessary support to Al-Azakh International University, Cairo, Egypt, to enable it to fully commence operations at its newly established branch to be located in Tudun Wada, Kaduna State.
The Governor, who was represented by the Director-General of the Kaduna State Interfaith Bureau, Barrister Tahir Umar Tahir, made this known at the official opening of the university’s newly established branch and study centre held at Arewa House, Kaduna.
According to Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Government deeply appreciates Al-Azakh International University for choosing Kaduna as one of the states in Nigeria to establish a branch.
He assured that his administration is ready to provide all necessary support to ensure the successful commencement of full academic activities at the university’s study centre in the state.
The Governor noted that any government committed to achieving educational growth and human capacity development would welcome such an initiative, describing Al-Azakh as a highly respected institution in global educational pursuits.
In his remarks, the Deputy Chancellor of the university, Dr. Ahmad Sefti, said the decision to establish the study centre was aimed at expanding access to knowledge and offering quality Islamic and Western education. He explained that programmes to be offered include Qur’an and Hadith studies, Engineering Technology, Nursing, and other academic disciplines.
Speaking with journalists, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi described the establishment of the university’s branch in Nigeria as highly commendable, especially for underprivileged families who cannot afford to send their children abroad for higher education.
The Al-Azakh International University branch in Nigeria will be recognised as the University of Islamic and Linguistic Sciences. Officials of the university also announced the presentation of awards of excellence to some eminent personalities in appreciation of their contributions towards the successful establishment of the institution in Nigeria.
Recipients include Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, and Barrister Tahir Umar Tahir, among others.
