Gombe Emir’s Cup Committee Appoints Coordinators for 15 Emirates, Chiefdoms

The Royal Organising Committee for the forthcoming Gombe State Emir’s Cup Football Competition has appointed coordinators to represent the 15 emirates, chiefdoms and traditional councils participating in the tournament.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Medical and Health Workers Union Secretariat located at Federal Low Cost in Gombe.

Chairman of the Royal Organising Committee, Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, presided over the exercise alongside the Vice Chairman, Auwal Umar, and other members of the committee.

The appointment of the coordinators forms part of preparations for the competition following the successful trophy tour conducted by the committee across the 15 emirates, chiefdoms and traditional councils in the state.

According to the organisers, the competition is designed to promote peace, discover football talents at the grassroots level and strengthen unity among traditional institutions across Gombe State.

The appointed coordinators and their areas of responsibility include Umar Garba Kenya for Nafada Emirate; Aliyu Lamid for Funakaye Emirate; Muhammad Musa Baba for Akko Emirate; Ibrahim Mohammed Suleiman for Kaltungo Traditional Council; Malam Hashimu Ibrahim for Gombe Emirate; Salisu Shuaibu Umar for Dadiya Traditional Council; Ibrahim Manzo for Pindiga Emirate; Sani Babayo for Tula Traditional Council; Malam Hassan Bebeto for Gona Emirate; Abubakar Magaji for Dukku Emirate; Sharu Garba Sidi for Yamaltu Emirate; Kudemcy Abubakar for Deba Emirate; Babawuro Mohammed for Cham Chiefdom; Jamilu Rabiu for Tangale Chiefdom; and Ibrahim Yahaya Sambo for Waja Chiefdom.

The coordinators emerged through a transparent ballot process in which each participant picked a ballot to determine the emirate, chiefdom or traditional council they would coordinate.

The committee urged the coordinators to work closely with football teams in their respective areas and guide them on the rules and regulations governing the competition.

Meanwhile, four centres have been designated for the preliminary stage of the tournament. These include Bajoga, Deba, Gombe Metropolis and Kaltungo.

The next activities lined up by the organising committee include the official draw for the competition and training for referees on the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system ahead of the tournament’s kickoff.

Chairman of the committee, Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, advised the coordinators to demonstrate professionalism and strictly adhere to the rules guiding the competition, warning that any official found violating the regulations would be dismissed.
