Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to the ideals of operating an open-door policy with regard to religious issues, to enable communities of different faiths to carry out their religious obligations without any hindrance across the state.
Governor Uba Sani stated this at the fourth set of students’ graduation ceremony of the Darul Sigaril Huffaz Qur’anic Memorization and Education School, held at the Umaru Yar’Adua Conference Hall in Kaduna.
The governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Barrister Suleiman Shuaibu, said that in the quest to achieve the desired positive results for people-oriented and inclusive governance, the state government has been maintaining an open-door policy and providing supportive interventions on religious issues and to faith-based groups in the state.
The commissioner also expressed his personal resolve to collaborate with the management of the school to redeem the pledge of a plot of land by the state government, including financial backing to enable the school to put up a permanent site.
He noted that this would improve the learning environment for imparting sound knowledge of both Islamic and Western education, in line with the required standards of learning, ethics and discipline for graduates of the institution.
On his part, the founder of the school, Malam Abdulrahman Zakariya Usman, who is also the Senior Special Assistant on Religious Matters to Governor Uba Sani, raised concerns over inadequate infrastructure and the need for modern teaching aids of global standards as some of the challenges facing the institution.
The school graduated 37 students who fully memorized the 60 chapters of the Holy Qur’an, comprising both male and female students for this year.
