ACF Dismisses Reports of Leadership Change, Reaffirms Stability

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has firmly denied reports suggesting a change in its leadership, describing the claims as false, unconstitutional, and misleading.

In a statement issued by Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, National Publicity Secretary of the Forum, the organisation stressed that its current leadership remains intact and that no official process has been initiated to alter it. The disclaimer was authorised by the Chairman of ACF, Mr. Mike Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, who emphasised that the purported announcement should be treated as “null, void, and of no effect whatsoever.”

The Forum clarified that under its constitution, only the General Assembly has the authority to approve leadership appointments, and it has not been convened for that purpose. It further noted that the Board of Trustees (BOT) has no constitutional mandate to enforce leadership changes, while the National Executive Council (NEC) alone holds the power to establish operational committees.

The statement also highlighted that the Leadership Selection Committee, which last functioned in 2023, has since been dissolved and is yet to be reconstituted. Any claims of action by such a committee were described as irregular and unconstitutional.

Reaffirming the legitimacy of its current officers, the Forum stated that Mallam Murtala Aliyu remains Secretary General until a successor is duly appointed through established procedures.

While acknowledging that clandestine efforts may be underway to destabilise the organisation, the ACF assured its members and supporters that there is no leadership crisis within the Forum. The Chairman pledged that the leadership will “jealously guard the integrity of the Forum and resist any attempt to derail it.”

The Forum urged members to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient as due process unfolds, reiterating its commitment to upholding its constitution and objectives.

“Long live the Arewa Consultative Forum,” the statement concluded.
