Katsina Confirms Death of Retired General in Bandits' Captivity






 



The Katsina State Government has confirmed the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while in the captivity of bandits, describing the development as a major loss to the state and the nation.


In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu'azu, the government said the late military officer died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension while being held by his abductors.


The statement noted that despite sustained efforts by the Katsina State Government and various security agencies to secure his release, the retired general did not survive the ordeal.


According to the government, the death of the retired senior military officer represents not only a painful loss to his immediate family but also to Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.


Governor expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased and Nigerians at large, describing the incident as a dark moment and a reminder of the urgent need to intensify the fight against banditry and other criminal activities.


The governor reaffirmed the state's commitment to working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the abduction are brought to justice.


He also assured residents that the government's determination to combat insecurity and protect lives and property remains unwavering.


The statement further conveyed the sympathies of the state government to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar.
