The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has unveiled a five-year strategic plan aimed at repositioning the commission's operations in line with international standards and global best practices.
Speaking at the official launch of the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan in Kaduna, the Chairperson of the commission, Hajiya Hajara Muhammad, said the policy document was designed to strengthen the commission's capacity to effectively discharge its constitutional mandate and improve the management of local government elections in the state.
She explained that the strategic plan was developed through extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including civil society organisations, traditional institutions, youth groups and other relevant partners, to ensure inclusiveness and broad-based ownership.
According to the chairperson, the document provides a roadmap for enhancing electoral administration, improving the monitoring of political parties and reinforcing public confidence in the commission's activities.
Hajiya Muhammad noted that the strategic plan also outlines measures to tackle voter apathy, promote legal and institutional reforms, address logistical challenges and respond to emerging issues affecting electoral management in Kaduna State.
She called on political parties, civil society organisations, development partners and other stakeholders to continue supporting the commission in implementing the strategic plan to ensure credible, transparent and inclusive elections across the state.
