Kaduna Reaffirms Commitment to Girl-Child Education at GGSSS Rigachikun Maiden Speech, Prize-Giving Day

KADUNA – The Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting girl-child education, describing it as a critical investment in sustainable development, peace, and prosperity.


The assurance was given during the Maiden Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Government Girls Science Secondary School (GGSSS), Rigachikun, where outstanding students were honoured for their academic excellence, discipline, and exceptional performance.


Representing the Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Dr. Rabi Salisu, the Director of Gender and Women Affairs, Dr. Ruth Abakasa Madaki, delivered the Commissioner's goodwill message, conveying the state government's congratulations to the award recipients and reiterating its unwavering support for the education and empowerment of girls.




She urged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and courageous in pursuing their academic and career aspirations, while encouraging those who did not receive awards to remain determined, noting that success is achieved through perseverance and continuous hard work.


The representative also reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to protecting, educating, and empowering every girl child across Kaduna State, stressing that investing in girls' education remains one of the most effective pathways to building a prosperous society.


She commended the school's management, teachers, parents, and the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) for their dedication to nurturing future leaders and creating an environment that promotes academic excellence and moral discipline.


The event, which attracted students, parents, teachers, and other invited guests, celebrated the achievements of the students while highlighting the importance of encouraging excellence in education.


The ceremony ended with a renewed call on all stakeholders to continue safeguarding children, promoting positive values, and supporting quality education, in line with the Kaduna State Government's inclusive development agenda under the theme, "No One Is Left Behind."


Government Girls Science Secondary School, Rigachikun, was also commended for its commitment to producing future female scientists, professionals, and leaders who will contribute meaningfully to the development of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
