The National Alumni Association of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has honoured the Member representing Sabon Gari/Zaria Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, for his contributions to education and support for students in his constituency.


The award was presented during a dinner organised by the alumni association to bring together former students of the university and strengthen relationships, unity and cooperation among members.


The event was held at the Sardauna Memorial Hall in Kaduna.


Speaking through his representative, Mallam Suleiman Suleiman, Hon. Sadiq Ango Abdullahi expressed appreciation for the recognition, saying the honour reflected the importance attached to efforts aimed at improving educational opportunities for young people in the constituency.


Suleiman said that during the first year of his tenure, the lawmaker provided financial assistance of ₦100,000 each to final-year students from Sabon Gari and Zaria Local Government Areas to support their research projects.


According to him, the lawmaker has also consistently purchased university and other tertiary institution application forms for prospective students from the constituency, while supporting them with payment of school fees to enable them pursue higher education.


He explained that the lawmaker believes that providing young people with education and skills is more sustainable than simply giving them cash.
