Governor Inuwa Unveils New Fertilizer Plant in Gombe, Vows to Unlock State's Agricultural Potential

Gombe, May 9, 2024 - Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commissioned a new fertilizer plant, Al-Yuma Fertilizer and Chemical Company, in Kwadon, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, as part of his administration's efforts to unlock Gombe State's agricultural potential.

The Governor emphasized his commitment to supporting agro-allied industries, which he believes are crucial to the state's socio-economic development. He highlighted the company's role in creating jobs and providing essential farming inputs to boost food production and sufficiency.

Governor Inuwa expressed his resolve to continue fostering a thriving agricultural sector in line with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at increasing agricultural production to ensure sufficient food in the country and guarantee food security.

The Governor announced a shift in approach, discontinuing food palliatives distribution and instead opting to provide fertilizer to encourage people to return to farming and address economic challenges. He announced the purchase of 200,000 tons of fertilizer from the new company for distribution to Gombe farmers.

The Chairman of Al-Yuma Fertilizer and Chemical Company, Alhaji Yusuf Ali Yusuf, praised Governor Inuwa's passion for agriculture and effective policies, which inspired the company to establish the plant in Gombe State. The company has the capacity to produce 120,000 tons of different fertilizer blends per annum.

The Emir of Yamaltu, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, thanked Governor Inuwa for creating a peaceful and enabling environment for businesses to thrive. The new fertilizer blending plant has already provided over 250 direct jobs and is poised to contribute to revenue and food security in Gombe State and the nation.
