SWAN President and NUJ Representatives Attend Burial of New Nigerian Editor's Sister

The President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mr. Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, along with representatives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, were present at the interment of Ms. Rose Onyekeche Dickson, the sister of New Nigerian Newspapers Editor, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson. 

The burial took place at her family compound in Agboke Oglewu, Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

The SWAN President was represented by the Assistant Secretary of its FCT Chapter, Mr. Friday Joshua, who led the delegation from Kaduna on a condolence visit to the family residence in Otukpo GRA on Tuesday, April 15.

Similarly, the NUJ delegation was led by the Kaduna Welfare Chairman, Amos Ebute Mathew, for the same purpose.

Other members of the delegation included Tega Nwaiwu and Kato P. Ladan.

New Nigerian's reporter, Bashir Bello Dollars, was also present from Abuja for the condolence visit and burial.

They were warmly received at the family residence in Otukpo by Mrs. Charity Oloxhe Odihi, the eldest sibling present.

The following day, the delegation joined relatives, friends, and sympathizers at the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo Teaching Hospital, from where the remains were accompanied in a convoy for interment at the family compound in Agboke Oglewu.

The delegation has since returned to Kaduna.

It is recalled that the late Ms. Rose Onyemeche Dickson, an Abuja-based businesswoman, passed away on March 22, 2024, at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.
