NGO AHEF Celebrates Five Years of Service with Maternity Ward Outreach

Abuja: Foundation Distributes Baby Kits, Calls on Government to Address "Deplorable" Conditions of Maternity Facilities

Abuja, Nigeria — It was a joyous moment for expectant and nursing mothers in Abuja as the Ambience of Hope Exceptional Foundation (AHEF) marked its fifth anniversary with a significant charitable effort. The non-governmental organization brought smiles and relief by donating essential items to women across the Federal Capital Territory.

The milestone celebration included extensive visits to the Nigerian Customs General Hospital, ECWA Hospital, and a Primary Health Care center near Karu village, alongside outreach to various streets. The NGO freely distributed vital supplies such as baby kits and beverages to newborns, nursing mothers, and expectant mothers.

A Plea for Better Maternity Care

Speaking during the visits, the National President of AHEF, Barrister Alexandra Uduak Olusola Olukomo, took the opportunity to issue a powerful appeal. She called on government at all levels to dedicate "premium attention" to maternity wards in hospitals, lamenting that most are currently in "deplorable conditions."

Barrister Olukomo stressed that the well-being of nursing mothers and the girl child also requires increased focus to improve their living conditions. "Charting the cause of ensuring a better condition for mothers and the girl child should not be compromised," she stated, urging that all stakeholders must collaborate toward this goal.

Reflecting on the foundation's five-year journey, Barrister Olukomo reaffirmed AHEF's dedication to implementing programmes that have a direct, positive bearing on humanity.

Gratitude from Beneficiaries

AHEF General Controllers, Mr. Cocobassey Maurice and Mr. Samson Aruwa, commended the President's "dynamic leadership" and encouraged other affluent individuals and groups to support those in need.

The impact of the donation was immediately visible, with beneficiaries expressing profound gratitude. Many mothers were taken aback by the surprise gesture, noting that the aid would "go a long way in bringing succour to their families" and putting smiles on their faces.
