Akiotu Wins BON Chairmanship, M4STV Pledges Industry Unity

M4STV Communications Ltd. has expressed appreciation to stakeholders following the emergence of its Chairman, Tony Akiotu, as Chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria.

In a statement issued after the biennial election held in Abuja on April 8, 2026, the management of the digital media and lifestyle platform described the outcome as a reflection of confidence in Akiotu’s leadership and vision for Nigeria’s broadcasting industry.

Akiotu secured a decisive victory, polling 62 votes to defeat Raymond Dokpesi Jr., who garnered nine votes. The result, according to M4STV, signaled a strong endorsement from delegates and industry stakeholders.

The organization expressed gratitude to delegates, colleagues, and supporters who rallied behind its chairman during the closely contested election, noting that the support was both overwhelming and humbling.

“The confidence and trust placed in Chief Akiotu will be honored with purposeful leadership, integrity, and results,” the statement said, assuring stakeholders that the mandate would translate into tangible progress and stronger unity within BON.

M4STV further emphasized that Akiotu’s leadership would promote innovation and collaboration across the broadcasting sector, reinforcing BON’s role as a unified voice for Nigerian broadcasters in an evolving media environment.

Tony Akiotu, who currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of M4STV Communications Ltd., has been credited with positioning the platform as a dynamic broadcast and digital streaming hub integrating traditional television with over-the-top (OTT) services.

The platform is also noted for broadcasting live matches of the Nigeria Professional Football League and coverage of national team engagements, highlighting Akiotu’s influence in sports broadcasting.

M4STV reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality content across news, entertainment, sports, hospitality, and health, while aligning with broader efforts to advance Nigeria’s broadcasting industry.

The organization described Akiotu’s victory as not only a personal milestone but also a collective achievement that signals a new phase of growth, cohesion, and forward-looking leadership for the nation’s broadcasting sector.
