KADGIS Acts on Uba Sani's Order, Establishes Boundaries for Rigachikun Secondary School

KADUNA – The Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has commenced the process of securing the land belonging to Government Secondary School, Rigachikun, following allegations of encroachment on the institution's premises along the Kaduna–Zaria Expressway.

The Director-General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, led a management team on an inspection visit to the school on June 3, 2026, following a directive by Governor Uba Sani to investigate the allegations and facilitate the issuance of a title for the school as a Government Item (G-Item) property.

During a meeting with the school management, representatives of the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) and community stakeholders, Dr. Ibrahim said the visit was in response to complaints received over the alleged encroachment.

He disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that the school had no statutory title. According to him, the only portion of land previously excised from the school was allocated to the Federal Ministry of Housing, where a housing estate was later developed.

The KADGIS team subsequently conducted a joint inspection of the school premises with stakeholders, during which the school's boundaries were identified and confirmed. Boundary beacons were thereafter established and monumented around the perimeter of the school to clearly demarcate and secure the land against future encroachment.

Dr. Ibrahim reiterated KADGIS' commitment to processing a statutory title for the school in favour of the Kaduna State Ministry of Education, with copies to be retained by the school management.

He explained that the initiative forms part of the Kaduna State Government's broader programme to reclaim, secure and protect public educational institutions from encroachment across the state.

The Director-General added that all public schools in Kaduna State would be surveyed, demarcated and issued statutory titles as Government Item properties.

The school management, PTA representatives and community stakeholders commended KADGIS for its swift intervention and expressed appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for the initiative.

They described the policy of demarcating and issuing titles to public schools as a major step towards safeguarding educational infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development.

As a follow-up to the exercise, the school management was presented with a copy of the offer for the school's registration as a G-Item property at the KADGIS office on June 4, 2026.
