LECAN Inaugurates Kaduna Exco, Warns Against Quack Electrical Contractors

The Licensed Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) has inaugurated its newly elected executive committee for the Kaduna State chapter, charging members to uphold professionalism, integrity and strict compliance with industry standards.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Kaduna, the National Secretary General of LECAN, Chief Kingsley Ovie Agbaisi, urged the new officials to discharge their responsibilities with honesty, fairness and dedication while avoiding unethical practices and shoddy electrical jobs.

He called on the executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by working closely with relevant stakeholders to promote the association's ideals, strengthen unity among members and maintain high ethical standards in the electrical contracting profession.

Chief Agbaisi also announced plans to launch an online platform to educate the public about the association and the activities of its members.

He appealed to the Federal Government to prioritise the engagement of qualified and licensed indigenous electrical contractors for electricity projects across the country.

The inauguration followed the presentation of Certificates of Return to about 10 elected officials, with Alhaji Nasiru Abdullahi Danasabe, popularly known as Dan Asabe NEPA, sworn in as Chairman of the Kaduna State chapter.

The event was attended by representatives of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company and the Electricity Dealers Association. Awards were also presented to selected Kaduna Electricity staff in recognition of their professionalism, diligence and commitment to quality service delivery.

Speaking with journalists after his inauguration, the new chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Dan Asabe, pledged that the new leadership would work tirelessly to advance the association's objectives. He said the chapter would intensify public sensitisation against the patronage of unqualified electrical contractors and the use of substandard electrical products and services.
